Dave at kelton
Just completed a buffaloe horn crook and want to polish up the horn. Although it will be a working stick it would be great to get a good finish. I will finish with 0000 wire wool but is there a polish or oil I should use with it? boo
To be honest be a lot of answers, after final shaping, usually scrape with a new stanly blade , sand to 240 , then wet & dry through to 1200 , put it on a mop with a bit of polishing soap , shows up all the faults , start again, till happy, found autoglym car polish on the mop & cherry blossom black works well to get a good shine.... I've used Brasso in the past, try to make sure to go in one direction with the wire wool and dont use to much pressure ,just rub lightly.
