Last night's sky

I looked outside around 9:30pm last night and the colours in the sky were amazing, it was a real picture sky with the colours on show.

Then later heading for work I was driving up the M6 and the sky was so picturesque it was actually off-putting.

The banks of cloud looked like drifts of snow coloured orange and red, but nothing was moving,  despite the odd wind turbine doing lazy rotations the clouds just sat there.

Then further north, as you looked out across Morecombe Bay the clouds had cleared and everything was perfectly clear, with the hills back lit orange and anything tall silhouetted perfectly,  I'm sure if someone had painted the scene you wouldn't have believed it.

By this point it was around 11pm and still didn't feel like it was going dark as I headed towards the sunset.

Was this just in the Northwest or was the sky painting pictures across the country last night?

Went very dull last evening here in West Leicestershire with looming rain clouds. Heavy rain overnight and as I type this and due to continue through the day. What a pity with all the celebrations planned. In this small hamlet of less than 200 people the effort has been huge. Lots of kids will be disappointed for sure.

That's a shame mate,  we had the local festival and parade on Thursday,  first one since covid hit, the turn out was huge right through the town, really great to see everyone out enjoying themselves.

It rained Friday morning but then cleared so looks like we got away with it this time.
