Country Pursuits in Rickmansworth

Recommended Posts

I am told by another RFD in the same area that Country Pursuits in Rickmansworth is throwing in the towel. They have for a long time specialised in bulk sales of cartridges but see the lead ban as being the death knell for that business.

Already sales of everything from clothing to airgun pellets has ground to a halt and they are giving up.

Thats what I was told, he's not prepared to renew the lease so its a natural time to call it a day. A shame though he's been there a long time

But when you consider where he was, in prime London suburbs and he had it all to himself. You have to drive a very long way in any direction before you find another shop like that. You would have thought he would have been  sitting very comfortably.

That’s sad if they are closing. When the shop in Amersham closed a decade or more ago that shop had a dominant local position. It was always let down by a bad website but in person they were great to deal with. I may have a run over there on Saturday for a look around and see if they are selling stuff off cheap.

Hello Helen here

It was interesting reading the theories as to why we closed, so from the horses mouth here it is, Trevor aka (Dad) was well past retirement age, he had in the previous 5 years had Cancer and in the last year a stroke. Our lease was coming up for renewal, that part is correct,

but I wanted him to really have some time to enjoy his retirement, before anything else came knocking.
I thought long and hard about taking it over myself and a number of factors came play.

1, Trevor was the knowledgeable one. (Facts are facts) I just got the stuff for you and chased like a Rottweiler if you owed us money 😂
2, I knew he would still come in Just to check I was ok.

3, I knew he always worried about my safety when on my own.
4, I wanted to have time to be a granny, 6days a week does not allow you to do so. So wanted to do something else that allowed me to do that.
5, the lease was up and was going up a lot ! .

So as much as we miss most of you ! 😂

it was time to kick back, and read books in garden, shoot when the mood takes him.

But mostly chuck the alarm clock in the bin.

kind regards Trevor & Helen
