DUNKS
Anyone any idea. PC on widows 7 asked for a password for Hotmail account. Entered password. Account says wrong password. OK click on "forgotten password" asks me if two last numbers of landline are correct. If so enter last four numbers and click for landline code. Landline does not ring! after three tries message try again tomorrow. Have tried "tomorrow every day for a week. No joy. Computer repair guy has also tried "Just in case I got it wrong" and he suggests it's because of a windows 7 support problem and suggests I swop to 10 but surely I will still have the problem. I am stumped.
old'un
You could try restore to a date it was working ok, doesn't always work but worth a try. Edit- How old is your PC? What type of hard drive do you have? I ungraded to win 10 couple of yours ago, much better than win 7, done a complete install on a SSD and kept all my old files on the HHD. Dave-G
I don't blame you fro trying to stay on W7. A younger PC aware brother looks after my approx 10 years old W7 set up for me. He says loads of people struggle to change from 7 to 10 because they are so different.

I agree, dont go for the upgrade to win10, do a complete new install on a new ssd. You can get win10 free and bye the key from here..https://softkeys.uk/
ShootingEgg
@DUNKSdo you have an iPhone or similar to logon to Hotmail etc. As Hotmail can be web based I'd not say it's a windows 7(operating system) error. What web browser are you using to logon to it. This sounds more like a security check on hotmail, as they look to go towards 2 factor authentication, Microsoft are turning of all legacy authentication, so just password is not strong enough anymore to loging etc.

My bad . 2 factor means that once you out your password in it would ask you to use finger print or an additional code to confirm it was you. Microsoft ( own Hotmail ) are moving to using 2factor on everything.
