rimfire4969
Hoping the PW bird experts can help me. A couple of us were feeding the pheasants this morning, very frosty. We had a small flock of about 8 - 10 birds cone over a couple of times looked very similar to Snipe in shape, colour similar as well, they were bigger a rough guess Woodcock size but wrong shape, they were flying in a straight line about 80ft up. We were about a mile from the Cornish coast. I have tried to identify on the web with little success. Any help much appreciated.
jall25
Sound like golden plover If they come over you again - Clap and if they are they will dive down towards you "usually" as a defence mechanism
marsh man
I would go along with Golden Plover when the op said the size of Woodcock , in this spell of cold weather , you are likely to see certain species of birds in places where you wouldn't see them , the best ones I have seen this week was a nice little bunch of about a dozen Snow Buntings . wymberley
One of the sandpipers? May have to think out of the box because of the weather. Twitchers are descending on one of our local parks to see an olive backed pipit.
