wymberley
Anyone, please. My hands/wrists are giving me 'gyp so I don't really want to make them worse by opening up a cartridge. Just need something reasonably accurate to use in a calculation involving ejecta weight.
Andy H
3mm over powder card = 6 gn , 12mm cushion fibre wad = 20 gn . 21mm diana fibre wad = 46 gn. Edited February 5, 2023 by Andy H
enfieldspares
I pulled an old Hull "Three Crowns" old 1 1/16 ounce or 30 grams load and weighed it on some post office type letter scales that weight a 150 grain bullet as 10 grams. In fact a 10 grams bullet is 154 grains. The driving wad, overcard wad and powder all together weighed 4 grams.
wymberley
Guys, thank you both for making the effort; that'll do nicely. Very much appreciated.
wymberley
Guys, I'd like to go again this time in steel. However, the particular one I have in mind - a 35 g offering for driven game by Gamebore is not cheap and as the percentage make up of the two components in the cartridge is quite small there is some leeway. Could any re-loader kindly give me the weight (grains) for the powder and the wad in a 12 bore 3" HP steel 35 gram cartridge having about 1460 ft/sec at the muzzle? Once again, many thanks in advance.

sky gipsy
I have some 3", 36g RC atomics at hand, with a velocity of 1406FPS (as reported by johnnytheboy in his tests). I could do the same as enfieldspares did if any help to you

If you could do an Enfieldspares that would be good as not only would it back up Dave's input but also supply the weights that I'm after and Johnny's figure equates well with RC's. Totally off topic, simply out of interest - is a sky gipsy an albatross?

BB's tale of Manka the sky gipsy followed a white pinkfoot goose from Iceland to our shores and back again . Worthy of a read indead, Will be back in touch soon.
