Ruger 77/17 Grouping Results

Firstly, this was my first time shooting a FAC rifle. Secondly it was ******* hard and I had a 15 MPH wind from left to right of the target. Zeroring was gonna be impossible, but I thought as long as I aimed at the center of the target, I would get some grouping results. I was amazed at the results.

Let me know your thoughts. The range was 60 Yards bang on. Did not want to go any further out else the bullet would not have hit the target due to the wind.

I have made no changed to the scope since leaving the shop.

Congrats on the new rifle should be a great setup.

Imo shooting in those sort of conditions is pointless and wont really tell you that much i think you'll need to pick a flat calm day and try a couple of 5 shot groups at 60 yards pick the best ammo and step it out to 100yards.

The rifle should be grouping no more than an 1nch at 100 yards with its favourite ammo.

I thought it was shooting the Fedral rather well in **** poor conditions though :o

i have the very same 17, and will only group with the feds :good::good:

so much for all the clever clogs that try and tell you there all the same :yp: :yp: know all's

fully floated the barrel aswell , tightened up the groups pretty well

Alhtough it don't sound much 15 mph is quite blowy ,and I agree it's a waste of time in these conditions but has it's your new toy you could'nt help yourself .:good: Lightening the trigger will make hell of a differenceas well

@ 60 yds in ideal conditions I would say you want to be looking for less than 1/2" and at 100 yds around 1" .Yes there are some tighter groups than that out there but achieving them on a consistant and regular basis is another story .......Fisherman's tales spring to mind :good: ,but not on this forum

Congratulations on your new aquisition. Whilst I can understand you wish to try it out I fear that you have wasted your time and ammo. The HMR is fickle and suseptable to wind, therefore your test results are of little value at the moment, other than you probably had a good time.

Wait for a much better day, and go again. Enjoy!

Dito!!

Don't know if you know the history of your rifle , but mine took about 500-600 rounds to settle down :yp: :yp:

If you haven't already, get the trigger done asap :yp: this will help get those 1/2inch hundred yard groups :yp:

How and where do I get the trigger kit? Cam I fit it myself?

In fact, the guy in the shop said the trigger was adjustable I think. Are they adjustable by default? Or does this mean I have a trigger kit in it?

5 shot group @ 100yds ......Not bad for a dodgy Cz :yahoo::drool: ...........I've lost count the amount of times I've clover leafed with three shot's only for the next 2 to open the group right up over 1" :/:ernyha: .
