wokkywokky
Just got off the phone with a friend who has a golf course permission that has a Canada geese issue. They want the geese shot only at night so as not to disturb the golfers. They also dont want a nosiy shotgun used. This only leaves him the option of a 22LR rifle. What happens is that one goose gets shot and the rest take off. Any tips on how to maximise the opportunity and take a few more?
JKD
Apart from being in the wrong section 🙄 [now moved to the correct section 🤓] ,,,, if the geese fly away, isn't that the point,,,, to get them off the golf course ? It's not a necessity to kill everything 🤔 Edited June 6 by JKD
wokkywokky
Not when they keep returning day after day and defecating all over the place. A dead goose doesnt return, so the point is to kill them. But thanks so much for all your useful suggestions.

So if they don't come back and your mate visits to take care of [kill] them, are you going to come on here and complain that "your mate didn't kill any because they weren't there as usual" ? Surely, the less time they spend in one location, the less guano ? Edited June 6 by JKD
THEINVISIBLESCARECROW
Stealth. Take one (or more) on each visit. Don't retrieve untill the others have flown off. Don't educate then to where the danger is.
BruceA
I have just had a similar request. I initially thought .22LR but need to check if they are roosting overnight on the course. The greenkeeper thinks they fly in early so it will probably be shotguns at dawn (with non lead shot) How are you going to see them at night? You can't use NV or lights under the GL without a special dispensation. I believe it takes about a month to turn such an application around. Of course, non-lethal methods need to be exhausted to get the dispensation. Obviously, you will need to watch out for ricochets off water. Some sound advise there , very easy to get things wrong nowadays , one mistake and it could prove very costly indeed , THANKS MM
