Bevo3
Hi, I have been clay shooting as experiences several times and love the sport and would like to make it my hobby. Before I put my application in for Cumbria I would just like to know closer to home alternatives for locations. The gent I have been shooting with has suggested a few locations such as Crabtree Clay Ground, Carnforth but this is around an hour away so for mid-week shoots this wouldn’t be ideal. Does anyone know of any farms/grounds who would allow non-experience shoots and how contact would be made. Any advice or guidance would be appreciated as I am based in South Cumbria near to Ulverston.

BobbyH
Check out CPSA.co.uk This is the home for clay shooting and you can find some clay grounds (ones that are affiliated with CPSA), instructors and coaches. If not, just a simple google search could suffice
Scully
If it’s farms you want to shoot on, then you need to just turn up and knock on doors, but as a perfect stranger to the landowner with limited experience, I doubt any would let you. There are quite a few clay shooting grounds in Cumbria, such as Paintmine Woods, Crabtree, Coniston ( if that is in fact Cumbria ) Southwaite, Watch Hill and Westlands just over the Border into Scotland, but I don’t know of any closer to Ulverston than those. Westley
Welcome to PW. I have to travel around 45 minutes from my home, to reach ANY clay shooting ground. Shooting and Joe Public do not always sit well together, usually based upon the noise factor. In fact I don't know of any grounds that are situated in towns, they are ALWAYS going to be remote, it's the nature of the sport. Travelling to various grounds in different parts of the Country, adds to the attraction of the sport for me.
