Note the chips are still a bit on the pale side , a bit like mine 😋 bet you enjoyed that john

Believe it or not Dave the chips are superb , I order a middle piece of Cod well done and my wife used to have a Plaice fillet or a piece of Skate extra well done and hers used to look really dark and lovely , all the renown chip stalls on the Yarmouth market place are the same colour as the above so around this way the chips done like that seem the normal practise , I might try some off the market next week and show you what I mean , maybe mine were not so far out after all , although there ones are not hard in the middle and look like they could do with a chip transfusion

Could even be the type of potato grown in different areas , or what they are fried in . one farm I used to go on grew spuds for Mc Cains , these were big spuds and would often have Black marks on them , they started to wash them at the farm and store until needed , these were only suitable for chips and nothing else , boiling them were a no no . Certainly did Dave , when peeled one spud look the same as most others , when they cost you nothing then you can't lose much by seeing how universal they can be , when you boiled them they didn't look that good in colour or texture so they were only kept for chips , on our farmland a lot of the early spuds are for salad , these are fairly small but can be used for chips and boiling . TIGHTCHOKE
Years ago we used to be regulars at the McCain factory as they were buying their potatoes from France and Belgium and they came with some interesting "extras". We would take them away and blow them next time we had a few, always came away with lots of bags of their chips as a thank you.

Christ or mighty , I don't think they would have got past the quality control , or even the health and safety towards the workers We once done a job down Smiths crisp factory , at the time they done crisps for M + S , the quality control was very strict , we took a window out and a pane of glass broke near a ton box of spuds that had came from Egypt , these were in like a Red soil , anyhow they rejected the whole box in case any glass got in which it didn't . Needless to say they didn't go to waste

They were long gone by the time a member of staff spotted a grenade. Best bit was we just turned up and took an ammo box and picked it up, placed it in the box, closed it and secured it and took it back to the bomb store. Our reasoning was that if they had been dug out of the ground, thrown in a lorry, drive all that way and then dumped down the chute it was highly unlikely they would give us any problems. Unlike the bomb they found in the early stages of building the new Herring Bridge down here, after a few days in getting or tying to get it defused it went off with very little warning , thankfully nobody was hurt and all the sand bags were already in place so very little damage , just a very loud bang and and bits and pieces went skywards

Nobody hurt and only a little damage to the wharf side.
