markbivvy
1000, buy. hold 1200 rim fire 223 buy 4 hold 5. expanding is usually granted automatically when asking for vermin/fox control. but ask for it anyway. if they dont like what you have put down, they will amend it. I think it'll take a lot of justifying to hold 500 rounds .223, personally I'd put 200 and 250, agree with the rim-fire

Paul223
By all means ask for 500, how many foxes do you shoot a year? and with a few zeroing sessions? I think you'll find 250 is ample, this allows you ( me ) to buy 200 heads, in boxes of 100's so same batch for consistency, whilst holding a few rounds. I know of some who have cf rounds at 80 buy and 100 keep  , now if your buying 200 rounds every 6 8 months or so well yes ask for 500 keep
markbivvy
200 rounds every 6 8 months sorry mate i keep thinking people use as much as me, and 200 wont last me a month.

Dunkield
Put whatever you like (within reason) and then discuss it with your FEO when he comes round, it ins't set in stone. I have: .22lr buy 500 keep 600 6.5 and .223 buy 200 keep 300 I have never had a problem with those quantities and they were adjusted UP by FEO when he came round as I had half of that on my app as I had no idea how many I would be using. Wookie
You reckon? My permission's not half of Cambridgeshire and driving round it won't take that long. I reckon at most it will take 50 rounds to sight the rifle and I'll get through 20 rounds in a session (at most), so 500 buy seems like overkill. I'm being serious StuartP, how come 500 buy as a minimum?

To save you having to recheck zero with every new batch, and rf rounds come in bricks of 500 consistency

tulkyuk
and with some gunshops, you can get them to do you a deal if you buy in bulk
Dunkield
I was told by my FEO I should add, use the 'batch consistancy' and also how far it is to your nearest gun shop?, price break as has been mentioned. They are (in my experience at least) very reasonable people.

njc110381
I got 1000 buy and 1100 keep for .22lr. 200 buy and 250 keep for 6.5x55. If you want to push the numbers up say you want to reload the centrefire and comp shoot the .22lr at a club. My FEO phoned me today saying he wanted to knock my 6.5 down a bit, but when I said I needed the numbers to buy expanding heads to reload he was happy with my request
