steve_b_wales
I would like to purchase an adaptor to allow a weaver/picatinny rail to be fitted to the dovetail on the above rifle. But I have read that it's 12.7mm dovetail and also a 3/8ths one. I need to find out the correct width so I can purchase the adaptor.

Obviously, 3/8 inch is less than 11mm, BUT, I believe the (American) 3/8 dovetail is measured at the bottom and is half inch (12,7mm) at the top. Whereas the metric 11mm dovetail is measured at the top and therefore is actually smaller than a 3/8 inch dovetail.

A guy living local to me has the same rifle (I cannot have mine until May) and I checked the scope rail. He fitted a Britannia adaptor rail to it and it looks good. Expensive mind but I think I'll do the same.

The 452 American has a 3/8 (USA) dovetail and is measured from the bottom. Some refer to it as 12.7 because they measure it at the top. The 11mm (Europe) dovetail is measured at the top. London Best
And I THINK I am right in saying that the dovetail angle is different as well, being, I THINK, 45deg on the 3/8 and 60deg on the 11mm.
