BUT,

I believe the (American) 3/8 dovetail is measured at the bottom and is half inch (12,7mm) at the top. Whereas the metric 11mm dovetail is measured at the top and therefore is actually smaller than a 3/8 inch dovetail.

That beats me completely!

A guy living local to me has the same rifle (I cannot have mine until May) and I checked the scope rail. He fitted a Britannia adaptor rail to it and it looks good. Expensive mind but I think I'll do the same.

The above is spot on.

The 452 American has a 3/8 (USA) dovetail and is measured from the bottom. Some refer to it as 12.7 because they measure it at the top.

The 11mm (Europe) dovetail is measured at the top.
