Ferret Master
Hi, Just a quick question before I go out on the lamp for Charlie. How should I go about repairing a small rip that has frayed slightly on the back of my relatively new Barbour? I am loathe to send it back to them as it looks like they will charge me well over a tenner just to put a tiny patch on and thats not including postage there and back. Is it something that me or even better with this sort of thing as I am ham fisted... my Mum could do? Thanks in advance for any and all replies. FM
Cranfield
I had an old Barbour repaired some years ago (zip problem) and they reproofed it before they sent it back. Well worth the money.
new to the flock
Olly, Whenever I tear my long riders or any of my waxed hunting vests, jackets, chaps etc, I get the sewing machine out and run multiple zig zag stitches over the area until it is closed up and solid. A small hint run them back atleast a 1/2 inch into the good cloth so nothing pulls out. I then wax over them and make them waterproof. If none of the above makes any sense just show it to your Mum. Ferret Master
Cranners, if it was a year old or so I would send it back but I have only had it 2 months and it doesn't need re-waxing yet. Dan, my Mum says that the jacket has a lining so she would have to unpick the lining if she were to stitch the outer layer together. FM
henry d
She could slit the lining and re-patch that too, simple pimple

Clark539
Just cut a slither of duck tape and pop it on the back mate, or a thin piece of lining material inside the cut if you get my meaning and apply a little locktite with a artists brush. For a decent repair try a gentlemans outfitters
myuserid
Instead of looking like a tramp, get it sent over to barbour, it will only cost £15 inc postage. Which is nothing really for what is quite a large patch. They dont just stitch a patch over the rip, they will replace the whole section. I caught it on barbed wire diving on a rabbit that had wriggled out of a net ferreting. FM
