pavman
On a couple of recent outings I have noted what I can only describe as badly turned out dogs, such as matted coats and a generally poorly kempt appearance. Whilst I expect my Lab to look like a working dog after the job is done I would like to think I take good care of her and she is well turned out at the start of a days shooting, as such she is regularly brushed out and checked over for tics cuts and abrasions etc. Is it just me? Mungler
I have tried dog grooming, but I find that the dogs typing skills let them down and they end up turfed out of the chat rooms.
al4x
Its not just you matted coats really are a sign the dog is being neglected.

Spaniel
Each time i take the Springer out, i check her hears for seeds etc and i always give her a quick once over for cuts etc. Cheers
loopy bunny blaster
good man spaniel, the problem is most dog owners dont do such simple things and frankly i dont think they should own dogs because of it. Devon Fox
I get my cocker groomed and clipped every couple of months, sine she was spayed she gets a very curly coat which picks up all kinds of ****
dustyfox
I take my dog out to a loch to wash himself. And his coat is healthy, I have never washed him with shampoo as I think this takes the oils that he has on his fur. No fleas or anything, he has had one tick on his right shoulder but apart from that he has got to be the cleanist dog in the world.

The vets say they dont but what I have seen they do. Shame really.

I agree I never used shampoo on Sian as it takes out the good natural oils from thier coats. I used to get Sian my springer clipped and get her Glands drained at the same time as these can get infected. After she had been clipped we used to call her Tony
lurcherboy
Not anymore Pavman. All I do know is check for hitchhikers and debris after a day out and give them a good backcomb with my fingers. LB
