Dunkield
NB, How is this being reported in the US? The reason I ask is I was in San Diego earlier this year the last time one of these happened. The coverage was blanket, not other word for it, 15 minute scrolling news on most of the major TV stations. It was the opinion of most of the American's I was with, that this saturation of coverage is what drives these nutters on. They die knowing that for one day at least they will be 'famous' It has been reported over here, but I doubt it will make the news beyond today. It s all over the news as might be expected, just the sort of thing the sensationalist media love over here. The liberals will call for tighter gun control for a few days and then it will all be forgotten. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22116784/ Another introverted troubled young man wanting to die famous - job done. My condolences to those who lost loved one's.

paul65
Are you against wide media coverage and letting the public know there lives might be at risk? Jonno Our lives are at risk every day without even leaving the house. Sensationalist media coverage just encourages these nutters and feeds their personality disorders. Are people going to stop shopping in case they get killed by a nut? I don't think so. Sure, report the facts but there's no need to promote fear. Dunkield
Excatly, your life is more at risk from crossing the raod, but we don't need 24/7 scrolling news to remind us. These loosers are made out to be heroes by the coverage they recieve which just gives the next nutter a perfect excuse for a copy cat attack or to try and top the previous body count. Oly
BBC stating he wanted Fame - look like the media are giving him his wish...doesn't do anything to diswade others Interesting statement though: The Supreme Court will consider Americans' right to bear arms early next year for the first time in nearly 70 years. NorfolkBoy
Are you against wide media coverage and letting the public know there lives might be at risk? Jonno Not at all Jonno, I'm just a bit jaded by US TV news channels such as NBC, CBS, Fox and CNN that love stories like this - they give them blanket coverage for quite literally hours and hours at a time. They'll squeeze a story for all its worth simply to fill airtime and increase ratings which fuels their advertising sales. Rather than simply report the facts, cases like this simply become circuses featuring panels of so called experts who simply spout hot air, speculating and making comparisons with the last nutter. Personally I want facts not opinons.
Dunkield
Unfortunately we are suffering in the same way here NB, not quite as bad as the States but there is an appetite for this this continous news. You get the interviews of the people down the road the landlady from 20 years ago etc etc it is never ending, Sky News and BBC News 24 lead the way with lots of airtime to fill with almost anything. Chard
Personally I want facts not opinons. Likewise I'm not remotely interested in the opinions of a load of half-baked, self-proclaimed "experts". Just facts, please - spare me the rest
