Shogun Sport

Anyone out there who owns a Shogun Sports 2.5TD? If you do, what do you think of them as a vehicle for shooting and general day to day trundling about? Can you tell me of any down sides to owning one?

I dont know about how suitable one would be for your needs but I know servicing can be expensive unless you go to someone

I own a shogun sport 2.5td equippe on a 51 plate - i have had about 4 years or so and its an ideal truck to use for a general runabout and is excellent off road if you put A/T tyres on it - only been sort of stuck once,but when i put it in low box with abit of rocking back and forth she came out ( it was nearly up to the axels in very wet soft muddy ground)

 

the only downside is it uses diesel like its going out of fashion - 25MPG -

 

i can chuck all my shooting in the back and still have five seats up front

if you can service it your self, it doesn,t cost that much to do ( i do my own)

Better off road than on..trundle is a good word!

 

Gulps diesel,high service costs but then so are most these days.If you arent doing a lot of miles a more than capable truck.

only other downside is - if you do a lot of motorway miles , it can get on your nerves that the engines need to rev at over 3500rpm to keep it at 80mph (which is not good for a diesel engine) and it feels is if you need another gear to get the best out of it.

Unless you are towing a lot get the 3 litre V6 petrol. I get 24 mpg out of mine and it does not "trundle" anywhere!! Other than that it is a nice motor and not "too big" if you know what I mean. Sure it doesn't handle like a sports car, but then it isn't, and doesn't pretend to be. Gets my dog cage, boots, guns, coats, game bags and various other accoutrements all in the back no bother.

Have you ever driven a Daihatsu Sportrak? Now that is an awful on-road ride. As for an L200, a Shogun Sport is an L200 derivative with coil springs on the back axle instead of the L200 cart springs. I have been in both and the Sport is much more refined.
