*NickH*
Hi All I have just got my FAC and have a .22 CZ452 reserved that I am picking up at the weekend. I will be using it for vermin control. I need some advise on what sort of scope people would recommend on a .22 rimfire, ie. Magnification, brand and recticle and also which mounts??? I don’t want to spend loads but just don’t know what to really look for. Any advice would be greatfully received Thanks Nick

tulkyuk
Try a hawke night eye 4-16 x 50 ir : you should get a brand new one for £
OneEye
Be aware there is a lot of bullet drop to compensate for in a .22. You might want to consider a mil-dot scope or even one with target turret for elevation, and use it with a rangefinder until you are very familiar with what your scope will do. I used to use a Bushnell Elite 10x40 with turrets, got the ranges planned out and the number of clicks, used the rangefinder. You'd be surprised how accurate you can get with it. Oly
For that budget I would go for a secondhand Nikko Sterling Nighteater 6-24 x56mm (not sure on their price new anymore, might be within your budget though). You won't need the full magnification capabilities but the mildot reticle is very useful and the light gathering abilities of the 56mm lens is great for lamping. Baldrick
I bought a second-hand Meopta 7x50 on Fleabay a few months ago for £150. It's superb. So much so that I've bought another Meopta since. It holds its zero perfectly (the rifle gets battered about daily in a tractor or 4x4 cab), and the optical clarity is superb. plinker
a good quality 3-9x40 is plenty, leupold vx11 or a even a wtc will fit the bill, you don,t need high mag for a .22 especially if you use subs for bunnies.

tuck1
I have a Hawke Sport 3-9 by 50 on mine, duplex ret. £50 - 60 new. Not bad, but I find it a bit fussy on eye relief, and usually leave it on 6 magnification. I will be looking for a scope with better glass soon, maybe a 6mag fixed power. A mildot style ret may be helpful to you for the trajectory of the .22 with subs, it is probably as important to you as a new rifle shooter to learn to judge range and apply compensation to your aim.
