stuey
Going to get a 6.5 in the new year to use for both deer and fox. looking at a 3-13 x 50/56 scope and have seen the folowing for £550.00ish. Wonder if any one has experience of it or if there is something better for similar money? http://www.opticswarehouse.co.uk/proddetai...rod=Doccla31256 Also is it lacking in terms of the features i might need? regards Stuart
stuey
Hmm, its not looking good for docter? Anyone use one for stalking/foxing or care to recommend a similar (similarly price also) alternative? regards Stu
CharlieT
I have had a 1.5-6x40 on my 6.5 stalking rifle for very many years and I cant fault it. Superb optics and as reliable as one could ask for. If I was to replace it I would buy another Docter.

tuck1
I used one many moons ago on a .222. It was, in my humble view, excellent all round. Can't remember the model or size I'm afraid.
Baldrick
I use two Docters on a regular basis, one variable for deer and one fixed mag for fox. The optics are superb, and the scopes are built to last. I wouldn't buy a fixed-mag 10x Bausch & Lomb instead of a Docter scope, ever. The only time I've ever used a 10x scope was in the Army, and the configuration is somewhat impractical for using for fox and deer. Stuey, don't rule out Kahles, Meopta and IOR Valdada, if you want good optics for sub-Zeiss/Swaro prices.

Go IOR if you want better optics than a Zeiss/Swaro too!! Docter are on about the same par as Meopta IMO, good quality glass that should outlast you too! Baldrick
Have you got an IOR, Oly? I'm thinking of buying one myself, as they look impressive. There is a review of the top-end IOR on 6mmbr.com, which gets a good review.

There is a reasonable amount of info out there on them too, and on here!
Baldrick
I'm going to need a new scope to go on my Cooper .223 when it arrives in mid-2008. I was mulling over buying myself a Docter, or an IOR, or to go with the all-American theme, a Leupold VX-III. However I'm more than likely to fall back on the second-hand Zeiss/Swaro option. What's good ain't cheap, and what's cheap ain't good....

Just keep on hitting the 'bay' Baldrick, you may get lucky, I got a mint 4-16x50 Swarovski off there, £150 off the best new price I could find anywhere York Guns is another good used quality riflescope place. Baldrick
I've been watching the 'bay' like a hawk recently, and I keep an eye on York Guns' site. Something will turn up, it always does!
Dunkield
My memory caught up with me, I paid £590 so that was a whopping £265 less than new, and had only been on a rifle for demo purposes
