Today myself, Farmerguy.22, Starlight32, Pavman and SimonP met over at John Bidwell's Highlodge for a nice relaxing day out and had a good laugh.

It was fairly busy over there and so we decided to shoot six birds on each stand with the first two pairs being on report and the last as a simpair.

We shot 12 stands of sporting starting with the driven tower in the woods and ending with the high tower by the skeet stands.

Some good excuses were used throughout the day and even Mungler's pubes got a mention :good:

Scores on the doors: -

Starlight32 45 ex 72

Farmerguy.22 41 ex 72

Suffolk Shooter 37 ex 72

SimonP 33 ex 72

Pavman 21 ex 72

The Bolt Action .410 coffee skeet classic

Suffolk Shooter 3 ex 5

Famerguy.22 2 ex 5

SimonP 2 ex 5

Pavman 2 ex 5

Starlight32 1 ex 5

Pavman has some pics I believe of the days proceedings and thanks to all for a really enjoyable day out.

We had a lovely day, shot 100 birds for twenty odd quid.

The bloke running it kindly offered up a bottle of wine to the winner and a bottle to the loser.

We kicked off at 10.30 a.m. after full nose bag and whilst it was a bit windy (Bazzer) the weather held out and it was a perfect day for shooting.

There was no one there much to our surprise, so we shot in one large group of 11 and weren't held up at any stands at all.

Some good solid scores and we shall wait on Bazzer for the final scorecards.

Big thank you to Matt (Lefty) for bringing a flask of coffee grog (what was it called "gunfire") and an adjustable gun for Keith who acquitted himself well notwithstanding that it was his 3rd time only holding a shotty (the Blackheath Sub Post Office job didn't count for today's purposes).

Nice to see a new face in Russ - he will be joining the Blaser club any day now.... along with a couple of others me thinks.

Shock news was that Markio shot a blinder until the last two or three stands when the wheels came off - seriously steady eddy good score building stuff.

Top, top day today at Dartford - except the M25 home bound :good: - Good craic all day (thanks fella's) and I was especially happy with my modest score of 52...

1. because it represents a 48.57% increase upon my last 100 sporting. And more importantly... :good:

2. meant that I didn't get to wear the 'Fag Cap' back to the clubhouse.

Still waiting for the photo...have you sorted the IT iss' yet, EE?

My syndicate had its traditional Boxing day shoot, which is also traditionally the best shoot and the best attended. McF, Lancs lad and Lancslads dad were amongst the beaters.

I saw no action on the first two drives; then got a mallard and one pheasant on the third drive. Fourth and fifth drives were equally blank for me; but on the last drive, O M G, talk about in the hot seat. I was stood on the corner of a wood with guns to both my left and right. The drive started slowly with me seeing no action, then a frantic five or so minutes, could not load quick enough, neither could the two guns to my left. The drive was acclaimed as the best drive ever on our shoot. The three guns with most of the action accounted for around 15 pheasant, possibly a few more, it was difficult to keep count.

The day ended with an extremely happy bunch of guns and beaters. Our new keeper has certainly done us proud, long may it continue. The days bag was 48 pheasant, 2 duck, 1 woodcock, 1 pigeon. The pigeon will be travelling with us to Will Beasleys on Friday, and will find itself ploncked on my flapper.

Another great day out, thanks guys.

It has to be said, Mungler's shooting is going from strength to strength and it's a pleasure to see - and get the odd tip from the maestro himself :good:

Watching Broken Man is also a pleasure - he has a laid back, non rushed style and seems to have all the time in the world having called pull. He'll be up there very soon me thinks.

Anyway, enough of the pleasantries, I'm starting to sound like a ****** :D

Edit: I shot 62 ex 80 and I had to work for that. Other than one on the first stand we shot I didn't come away thinking I was owed any more for any reason.
