vole
I lost my internet connection today, not a new thing but did a bug sweep with my Spy Sweeper. It kept picking up and quarantining Storm gen trojan. Then I got the message to reload my XP service pack 2 disc to replace some Windows stuff. It did not give any more instructions so I took the disc out. Webroot Spysweepers info is to change all my passwords and bank details etc. Is this genuine and I should reload Windows? Thanks for any help. BrowningBoy
Got any more info on the Trojan? McAfee threat library doesn't recognise Storm.Gen or Storm Gen as a known trojan and they're usually pretty good. FYI Other things in the "Storm" name are tools to trap data from your PC so changing passwords and bank details won't help, it will just ensure that up to date info can be sent to the far end. Best suggestion is to not use that machine for any financial transactions, credit card use, banking or eBay tyoe stuff until you're clear and watch your statements very carefully

wy111
Avast, AVG are two that I know of. I have used the former for a few years now and never had a virus.
Cranfield
The Storm worm does exist, but should be easily removed with any uptodate anti virus software. http://antivirus.about.com/od/virusdescriptions/p/storm.htm

pin
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Storm_Worm Not known to steal keystrokes or passwords, was mainly involved with propagation in order to create a massive botnet of drones. That said several flaws in the code allowed other malware coders to exploit it and do their bidding. I'd change every single password I had, contact any companies I deal with online and then look at not being hit again, which a lot of folks already helped with. pin
It's also possible it's a false positive in Spyware Sweeper
