Got back today from my trip, had an amazing time. Went with a mate and stayed in a 5 * hotel in the south. It was minus 6 when we arrived and one night went down to minus 26. Not that we noticed as the beer jackets worked their magic and at 90p a pint they were good jackets !

Tried snow boarding and skied a few times ( ski hire is £2.50 an hour ) and ate out in some great resteraunts. Aushwitz will stay with me forever, took five hours to look round and felt a vast range of emotions. It instills rage, sadness, despair, shame, admiration and humility in equal measure. There were some pictures that will stay in my mind forever and some of the ehxhibits were mind boggling in size.

Deer seemed to be in every field, I assume they were a darker roe then we have here.

The locals were very friendly, the women stunning and despite being out every night ( behaving :) ) we only had trouble from local skin heads on one night.

I will go back in the summer to see whats its like with no snow as I havent had such a laugh for years. Took a cable car to the top of a mountain and the wind chill was minus 48 and its true, it does freeze before it hits the ground :good:

I did want to see a game but my Polish mate advised against it. We drove around in a blacked out BMW x 5 with English plates so were assumed to be mafia ! The skin head neo nazis thought picking a fight would be fun as we appeared to be two Englishmen alone but they were only in their late teens / early twenties bless them. I was on my phone to my daughters when the introduced themselves by kicking my bar stool from under me. It was dealt with in the correct manner and did not spoil a good night out.

I will attempt to post pics but may have to bribe BSA Shaun into doing it when he collects his car :)

Aushwitz must have been pretty bad, I went round Dacau in february last year and it was about -5 outside and it was a real eye opener. I was freezing yet they deliberately killed people there from the cold by removing their clothing and marching them round outside. Its good that the sites remain as everyone needs a bit of a reminder of history and what man is capable of.

Sounds like a great trip though
