I have one and have had no success with it at all. By the time I've lugged it across a field to where I need to shoot, I'm knackered  I like to "float 'em" Take a few dead birds with you from a previous shoot and thread them onto a fibre glass cane, push the other end into the ground. Presentation isn't vital so they can flop to one side a little. I have had many successful shooting days using this method. Good luck, I'm sure therre are many other views on this subject and I look forward to reading them.

They all work basically the same, so which one you buy depends on how reliable and well made you want it to be.

Check out Shootwarehouse through the link at the top of this page, they have a range of rotary devices and may have a deal on (you get a PW discount).

I think they can be a great addition to any decoy layout and draw in the birds, as they create movement in the pattern.

There are days when they don't work that well, but there are days when nothing works very well.

Use the Search facility at the top right hand side of the page and look for "rotary device", or "magnet", there have been loads of threads discussing their merits.

If you are using the machine every single day of the week, perhaps you need a more expensive one, thats a matter of opinion.

For most casual shooters that sort of expenditure is a bit high.

I believe UK Shootwarehouse must have sold thousands of rotary devices by now, so they must be OK.

If you send hawkeye a nice PM, he may even send you the plans to make your own :lol:http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/ind...showtopic=48459 .

  • 3 weeks later...

I used one on Saturday and am convinced that it made the extra enticement necessary to bring in the birds. In fact I made my biggest bag with it.

I bought a seeland twin arm for £70. The wire is **** and breaks easily - mine has 4 repairs after the first outing and the speed controller didn't work from the start. :good: But the system def works!! :good:
