Thomas,

Paul223's advice is correct.

You MUST ensure that your guns are in sound condition and chambered for cartridges of at least 70mm (2 3/4") before you use them.

Highseas, you should be ashamed of yourself. Your "point and pull and hope for the best" advice is nothing short of irresponsible.

Ok thomas, how are your barrels? inside and out? are they clean with no pitting,

have a good look, squeezing as you go, at the ribs joining the barrels are they loose,

when you shut the gun, hold the for-end in one hand and the stock in the other, try to move the barrels side ways against the action, is there any movement,

check the stock for cracks around the action and around the straight / pistol grip,

is the action loose in the stock at all??
