Squiber
I've only recently taken to shotgunning seriously, mainly pigeons and i am thinking of getting a semi-auto. The questions i have are are they suitable for pigeon shooting, can you get them just on a shotgun certificate as i have seen FAC next to some in the mags, and whats a good secondhand choice,i've read good things on this site about the Remington1100 or should i buy a new cheaper make. thanks Andy
The Sniper
Welcome to the site, Squiber. Welcome to another Yorkshireman. (We're taking over ) I use a semi auto for my pigeon shooting purely because I can't use a side by side. I am more of a rifleman and can't get used to the two barrels in front of me. I like semi autos, to use in a hide, as you don't have to break them, to reload. Plus I picked mine because it has had some stick and I don't mind if it gets knocked about a bit in the hide etc. Ernyha...ring any bells, mate ? More importantly than anything, the gun suits me and I can hit things with it, with reasonable consistency ( I'll say that before anybody has a dig ) Semi auto shotguns are okay on shotgun certs if they are three shots or under. Anything over that needs to go a firearms cert. Have you tried any semis out yet ?? Thats the way to find out if they suit you. P.S. Actually I've just realised you must be a true Yorkshireman.......you want to buy the semi, second hand !!!!
eugene molloy
are they suitable for pigeon shooting...yes, better than an O/U in a hide can you get them just on a shotgun certificate as i have seen FAC next to some in the mags......yes and whats a good secondhand choice....Beretta AL391 Regards eug

apbuild
Anyone shoot a beretta 303? feedback on this gun?
highdowns hunter
APBUILD I have a beretta A303, and find it is a great gun to shoot with especially from a hide or in a hedge I have also taken it clay shooting and have shot as many clays with it as I have with my O/U However i do not really like it for walked up shooting as it dosent hang on to my arm like a side by side or O/U I have read some good reports about the 303 just the same as reports about the A390 The only problem I do have with the gun is that I shoot left handed and it is a right handed gun, Hence the safety button operates the wrong way for me The AL 390 Safety button can be reversed easily I believe, But the 303 needs to be sent for modification. Good Luck HH
webber
I had a Beretta 303 for several years before trading it for another Beretta semi. The gun was great for hide shootong, and as highdowns hunter has said, a semi is not the most comfortable gun for a walk around, and you would be chasing spent cases. For pigeon from a hide its an awesome gun. webber
