bob300w
They are the mutt's nut's! Mine is now 11 years old, still thinks that she is a puppy. She has always retrieved as well as a lab, hares and geese, no problem, she does have to put a goose down on occasion to see which direction to head, but otherwise incredible little dogs. Loyal, fearless and affectionate, shame that the missus ain't a bit more like her.
gdunc
As above - great dogs and particularly suited to rough / walked up shooting. With good lines you get a hard hunting nose and excellent retrieving instincts. Not suitable if you don't like an excitable super keen dog as they can stay that way for some years. They are clever dogs and good learners who like to please and are fond of human attention.

lurcherboy
I wouldn't touch a Cocker, unless it was with a baseball bat a couple of years ago, then a black Masseydrewen from Bevin in Carmathen, found its way into my pack. Very hard work, never lets me relax, does my ******* head in at every opportunity, everyone loves him, the little *******. Good for meeting ****'s if you go to Saturday football though LB

Have I read this correctly? You have a new dog then you take him for a walk and fire a shotgun near him to see if he flinches. If that is correct it is unbelievable. TC I've actually seen worse so it does go on. We had our pup at the Scone gamefair and she was 4mnths at the time and is a very bold little dog. Even so we were very careful of our proximity to the clay shoots and were happy that she had heard only background gun fire. We then encountered a chap with a tiny timid looking cocker who we were drawn to speak to and the owner said that he'd had her at the stands to get her accustomed to gunfire. She apparently cried fought and whined for the first half hour before she settled down. I was completely shocked and didn;t know what to say. Little wonder she was a bag of nerves. bignoel
no a big bang trial doe's not mean i fired a shotgun over a new dogs head ? he had a big bang trial by a dustbin lid being dropt on concrete floor by my brother.
