I'm glad it wasn't just me :good:

I just wasted an hour and a half of my life watching something that showed what complete bunch of bottlers we have both in charge of the national team and playing in the team.

I thought Beckham had a good game, and probably would have been better if the rest of the team had passed to him more rather than passing to Joe "I'm a one trick show pony" Cole all the time. For a left back with Pace, Ashley Cole did sweet FA all game. Bentley when he came on showed he doesn't have the ability to go past players at international level and wasted opportunities to get the ball crossed in preferring to either lay it back or try "just one more" Step over.

Midfield was missing, standing off the french when they got the ball. Why oh why can't we close people down when we have lost possession. Chase, Harry, Tackle, not back off until we're all standing in a line on the 18 yard box.

We showed no imagination going forward, at one point I thought there were 21 players against David James trying to get it in the back of the net.

James was not at fault for the Penalty, that was John Terry and Ashley Coles fault. Watch the replay and you see nobody picking up Anelka's run preferring to ball watch and playing him onside by 2 yards as the balls played.

Rooney just cannot play up front on his own, he needs a strike partner and Gerrard, why does he feel the need to shoot from outside the box everytime he gets the ball.

All in all a totally lacklustre game when the french, who were average at best barring Anelka and Ribery, were there for the taking.

Personally I don't think Capello has a clue on how to play any of the so calle dEnglish Superstars in the same team. I would rather watch supposed average players playing with pride and passion, than watch overpaid robots who still can't get it right.

SS ;)

As an Irishman it amazes me how England seem to always under perform.

The talent you lot have is just crazy, so many gifted players. They play amazing football for their clubs but the second they put on an English shirt they fall apart.

Now I know that's rich coming from someone Irish but for the money and resources being put into the premier league England really should be performing to a higher standard.

just goes to prove that although we have a strong home league, that this is down to foreign players not the home grown variety? only two genuine world class English players on show last night for England, one is at the end of his career and given his perhaps "final cap" out of good PR, the other seemingly is a bench man at his club, who learned his skills in Germany.

Wide men who don't know the meaning of WIDE, cant put a ball in to save their lives, and as for that Chelsea scumbag Cole A COLE ( almost spelt right?) he simply instilled in me the belief that these fellas really do believe the hype and they think they are genuinely better than they are, time to go for the kids me thinks.

cheers KW

Like the rest of you I`ve watched England for years, I`ve heard all the "this is is the best generation of players we`ve ever had", trouble is expectation never matches the reallity.

We have a number of world class players who only deliver intermitently, a lot of the blame I believe lays at the feet of poor international coaches we`ve had for a good 10 years or so.

Keegan could motivate but was tactically inept & couldn`t spot talent if it slapped him in his face. Erickson was not bad tactically but couldn`t motivate the players when a bit more work & endeavour was needed. He favoured the long ball tactics to much which too often cut out the talent in the middle of the park except for Beckham because everything when not punted up the park by Sol Campbell went through him making the team one dimensional & unable to adapt. Because of the long ball the law of averages dictated that when we gave possession away we, by the law of averages were all to often under the cosh when the ball came back at us.

Mclaren tactically inept, not a motivator & like Erickson unable to change things or motivate players when an extra boost was needed or for the better of the team.

Capello is hopefully better than all of these in every department but he`s got a lot of morale & team building to do as well. He`s already realised fat Frank & Gerrard can`t play together. Gerrard has consistently "underperformed" due to I believe having to be the defensive cover for Lampard, although he`s done this well it has negated the best part of his game (for England) as the best attacking midfielder in the Premiership. Hopefully Capelo understands we want aggressive fast attractive football from our England team.

david james ****** up, thats all there is to it, beckham played fantastic as always and it was a pretty equal game. capello has/is just changing the players by wakin them up a bit which is good and i reckon that we have a decent future for once. i really hope beckham plays again and i hope he is in the team for the 2010 world cup i dont see why not he will only be 35

Ashley Cole and decent left back, there are four words that should never be uttered in the same sentence :good:

At the end of the day its a friendly, its never going to be competitive, especially with the cheese eating surrender monkeys vs the only country with tanks with 6 reverse gears :good:

not sure how you wake up **** do you poke it with a stick, players we have now are ok in a decent league team backed up by foreign players simple as that, but when it comes to standing up themselves they are found out? aka Gerrard aka lampard Cole x 2, crouch (circus act)etc etc.

as for beckham in 2010 at 35 midfield player = NO CHANCE shame but although the only (apart from Hargreaves) true world class player we have at the moment, his legs will be gone whether he would admit it or not,

time now to rebuild not with the dross we have but with kids who look likely, Walcott as an example problem is where are they do they exist in the numbers we need, I sadly fear not, either way we are stuffed as a national team.

I was quite shocked at the figures in the papers this morning, concerning the amount of players eligible to play for England, who are currently playing in the Premiership.

In 1990 it was 69%

In 1996 it was 63%

In 2008 it is 37%

The problem for the future could be in those numbers.
