Axe
This is one of those 'I've always wandted to know' questions. Everynow and then when i'm out on the road, I come across what effectively are, articulated vans. The question is, does anyone know how they are classified, are they classed as a van with a trailor or do you need a special license to drive an articulated vehicle? Vans are obviously not HGV so I find it hard to beleive they would be given an HGV1 classification. Trivial question I know, but i've always wondered about this and never found an answer. Lord Geordie
Cat C1+E Combinations of vehicles where the towing vehicle is in subcategory C1 and its trailer has a MAM of over 750kg provided that the MAM of the combination thus formed does not exceed 12000kg and the MAM of the trailer does not exceed the unladen mass of the towing vehicle. If the MAM of the combination exceeds 8.25 tonnes it is classed as a large goods vehicle and the driver will be subject to the conduct regime. C1 + E 21 Age 18 if combination weight is under 7500kg – if you passed your category B or B automatic test before 1st January 1997 your licence will already show C1, C1E (8.25 tonnes), D1, D1E (not for hire or reward) as entitlement flowing from the category B. Wookie
I just looked on the back of my photocard license... It shows little pictures of the things you described and says I can drive them. Cool
Axe
The picture on the back shows a van with a trailor. What I am referring to is an articulated van. In other words, its like a small version of an HGV1.
