I dont want to go that high so can anyone suggest a clay shooting 1oz ( 28g) and a 11/6 th oz ( 30g) suitable for pigeon and rough shooting in a fibre wad and cheap as possible? Thanks. supergame Posted February 22, 2003 Report Share Posted February 22, 2003 I'm affraid you are struggling on the cartridge front. Unfortunately the 1100 was design to fire winchester trap 100 and 200s which are no longer available. I had an 1100 for 3 weeks and got rid due to cartridge problems. Express loads are your best bet I would think. You will have to keep it extremely clean, especially the tube and trigger mechanism or it will jam for sure. When I owned my 1100 I tried all types of cartridges, but was unfortunately unable to find a consistent ejector. I have heard boring out the gas ports helps with ejecting lighter loads so maybe thats something to consider. Its a shame that the 1100 is so load fussy as it is a superb gun to shoot and a very forgiving gun. You could try ringing Edgar Brothers in Maclesfield ac they specialise in Remington automatics. Occasianally you will come across an 1100 that will eject every load on the market, these seem to be flukes. I only hope yours is. Good luck. These are/were a very popular clay shooting gun, I can,t imagine many Clay Grounds permitting 32gm loads. sam, have you had any problems yet , or are you just going by what you have been told ? Cranfield Posted February 22, 2003 Report Share Posted February 22, 2003 I use Gamebore Clear Pigeon, felt wad, 30gm and No6 shot. They are a very good, cheap cartridge. johnny Posted February 22, 2003 Report Share Posted February 22, 2003 Ive got a 1100 I found it worked well on 30 gram, but not so well on 28s .I used hull cartridges mainly and gamebore. I would still use it now but the two parts that slide on the tube stick alot also the ports keep blocking. daviddjlloyd Posted February 26, 2003 Report Share Posted February 26, 2003 The REMMI 1100 is a fantastic tool ,however one must clean it properly after a shoot. After cleaning the barrel the gas rings nead a good clean to get rid of the carbon build up ,then the magazine tube neads a good clean and oil. I shot mine dry for a number of years only to be told by the gunsmith that they need to run lubricated. Treated with care they will last a long time all the best . Catamong Posted February 28, 2003 Report Share Posted February 28, 2003 Sam, Take a tip from me - always carry a spare extractor claw - (which grabs & spits out the empty case) - they have an annoying habit of shearing off just when you least expect it, i.e. when you are just about to break that first magic ton...!!!
