Hi Chard, you old sea dog.

I reckon the answer is a 'weight' ratio thingamajig.

The single barrel would be quite lively, compared to your 682, Pointability perhaps? :good:

Hello Cap'n Jack :yp:

Not seen you on here for a while, have you been languishing in the brig?

It's funny you say that. Before I left the house today, I picked up the Beretta and waved it around, like you do  and it felt like a ******* railway sleeper after the Mossy. I'm a fairly big bloke so weight shouldn't be a problem, but I'm starting to think that the Beretta is not for fast manouvering. The trouble with shooting at Worsley is that a lot of the targets are ripping between gaps in the trees and you have to get your finger out of your harris or they're gone before you can say "Roger the cabin boy" :good: When I get out in the open with them long high crossers or high driven stuff, the Beretta's fine (so is the Mossberg), but maybe the Beretta takes too much getting moving

ive shot worsley many many times so no the ground well. yes, there are a few clays that whizz inbetween the trees but you dont need a fast handling gun to shoot them.

the problem is more likely to be you. i bet you are picking the clay up way to early and tracking it to far.

the clay will dictate where it is best to be shot, even in the deepest trees.

your gun barrels should not move more than a couple of feet at the end, at most, if it does your set up is wrong.

imho its your set up thats not right not either of the guns.

Two feet is quite a long movement of the barrel, I'm hopefully not tracking them that far. To be honest, I don't think you could chase a lot of the targets that far, they'd be gone. I do try not to track stuff for too long, because I lose all the instinctive bit and thinking starts to take over if I'm on them too long. Having said that, I have been told before that I'm working too hard on some clays. Then again, a coach once told me to track it all the way from the trap :good::yes::lol::good:

If I was tracking them too long, how would you account for the different performance with different guns? I suppose I could understand the second shot with the pump being more successful, because by the time I've cycled the second shell, there's no time to track the clay far :yp:

It’s funny I have the same problem, I have a 30†Lanber deluxe, and also a Hatsan Luxono now the Lanber cost me £500 used and the Escort £375 brand new, I shoot better faster and have more fun with the escort, so much so I am going to sell the Lanber and get the cheep Escort for rough shooting. The Escort is 28†so equivalent to an O/U 30â€

A gun is a personal thing, you like what you like and you shoot best with whatever gun you have more fun with, I don’t think price has anything to do with it any more, I was doing a bit of skeet yesterday and had a bit if friendly competition with two guys at the club, I was shooting better than they where and they where very shocked when the spotted the brand of gun (Hatsan Escort), and one comment was “I spend more than that on cartridgesâ€

I have to put my hands up to this to, iv hit a stale patch at the mo and have gone though the process of blaming everything other than myself, the first excuse being because it was a new gun and i now realise what a load of "Horse "n" Trap" that was. But what what i do find makes it worse is the more i beat myself up about it at the time and also after, i need to find the fun again and just relax back into it again, hopfully finding my feet again ! (had to say this before silver pigeon did :yp: )

I am sticking to my 12g silver pigeon at the mo but do have these urges to shoot other guns available to me and i have an incredible craving for a escort 20g semi in all black  and i supose you have to be able to let your hair down and enjoy yourself once in a while !

I have just sold my £2k Blaser o/u and bought a £500 Beretta Ulrika semi.

The Ulrika is a great fun gun, I dont have too worry about it getting wet (like today) and it is light and pointable like the Blaser. I am sure that at a certain level having the correct tool for the job makes the difference but just shoot with what you enjoy shooting with, that is afterall why we shoot - for enjoyment.

What you need to remember is that as long as you pull the trigger and it goes bang then it is fine. Expensive or cheap doesn't make any difference.

Why people do not just go out and buy the cheapest gun they can find is beyond me.

Like that cheap old F3 of yours

I do agree actually. If you want to get to the top of the tree, I suppose you'll need a decent bit of kit, but having a round with the boys doesn't need anything poncey

There was a bloke at Worsley the other week with a Krieghoff. He even had the K-80 hat  Couldn't hit a barn door

I beat LV today (Beretta Urika 391), Evil Elvis (Browning Cynergy synthetic) and Broken Man (Beretta 696 Gold E) today with my dirty Mossberg Pump.

The Mossberg cost less than the chokes in EE ad BM's guns.

Que Nelson "ha ha"

We noticed your call..... "that was a lump off that wasn't it"....were soon racking upyour score.... the Mafia must get a group eye test as we didn't see it!... Arf Arf
