harpo_the_bad
When I checked out a new gun club on Sunday they said that they allow the use of revolvers on their range. With all the info to take in I forgot to ask about this. I was under the impression that all pistols other than muzzle loaders were banned in the UK after dunblane? I'm not really planning to get one. Just curious. Shane
mr smith
Likely they were meaning these. http://www.rimfiremagic.co.uk/lb_revolvers.html
harpo_the_bad
Wow, I had no idea you could even have such things these days. Good stuff!
cubix
You can, at a club, as long as they are cap and ball/historical, or have a barrel at least 12 inches long - not 100% on that last point though.
casts_by_fly
if the barrel is over 30 cm and the total length is over 60 cm it is legal. 'Reason' to have one might be a bit tougher and I'd suspect that some of the more assinine forces wouldn't allow them at all. I would like to know what the rules are for the extended arm brace. How permanent does it have to be? I would guess welded on so that it can't be removed by the consumer/owner. Anyone know first hand? Thanks, Rick

2shots
You can still apply for and use black powder muzzle loading revolvers of most calibers, these are readily available and a lot of forces dont mind them at all, from £20 so no problem theyre a bit of a chew on and filthy beasts to load etc but great fun to fire. The long barrelled revolvers are still permitted eg taurus/ browning buckmark conversions etc and use ordinary ammo 22/38/357/44 etc, they have to still be 600mm long to qualify hence the fixed balance rod on the handle which has to stay on. A friend of mine has recently been refused one but that was northumbria who dont like em other forces are more lenient and dont mind, a lot of clubs just dont want the hassle as they have to run competitions etc to prove they have a use for them. mr smith
The arm brace has to be a permanent fit,as if you could take it off it would no longer qualify within the law as to length required.
bob300w
These, perfectly legal, others, as has been said, have to conform to the length requirements. Edit; By others, I mean cartridge loading guns. Edited May 13, 2008 by bob300w
