Browning
I'm looking for a lighter gun for walking the fields with, my current Browning 425 is 7.8 lbs and gets a bit heavy after a long day. (I also have a space in my cabinet that's crying out to be filled) I can't hit the proverbial barn door with a side by side, so I'm sticking to Over & Under. I've looked at lots of makes, and particularly like the Beretta Silver Pigeon, which is 6.7 lbs, and feels well balanced and shoots well for me so I'm probably going to go for this. My question is.....I've seen Silver Pigeon 3, 4 and 5 for sale.....does anyone know what the differences are between these different models ? Also, does anyone know if all Silver Pigeons are chambered 3" magnum as standard ?
Guest Mr Pieman
All 3" magnum as standard. The only real differences are the engraving etc. The 'nuts and bolts' bit is still identical I think. PP
red_stag88
I have a silver pigeon I believe it is the 687 version. It came second hand with very yellow wood, which I will stain much darker. Engraving is reasonable, no gold inlay or the like but a nice scroll with game scenes, pigeon, pheasant and partridge. Would trade a woman to have one
TX Sniper
as far as im aware the difference is in the standered of wood, engraving etc. One will all shoot as well as each other but some just look nicer than the others. I beleive the 5 is designed more as a ladys game gun. the 2 i think is a double trigger. hth Jim
Owenwill
Had a new Silver Pigeon 1 a few weeks now, very pleased so far, shooting buddy got a Silver Pigeon 3, beats mine hands down on the pose factor, deeper engraving and nicer looking wood, other than that they shoot the same, same weight etc. Was tempted by a second hand SP2, again this had the deep engraved game scenes opposed to the scroll on mine and double trigger which I didnt fancy. The Silver Pigeon 4 has the blued finish on the reciever with gold game scene. Don't know a lot about the SP5, other than I can't afford one! :<
