Teal
Not an essential bit of kit by any means. But I was thinking of getting one as they seem fairly cheap and look fairly good. Does anyone have any experience of either of these: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/realtree-waterproof-...1QQcmdZViewItem ( Item number: 380029568198 ) or http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/REALTREE-HWG-CARP-FI...1QQcmdZViewItem ( Item number: 280228094446 ) I'm guessing the fact that real tree have let their name be put on them that the products can't be complete rubbish? bob300w
No experience of the ones in the links, but I bought a Deerhunter Huntsville jacket with innovation cammo at the Norfolk show a month or so ago, £50 off of the retail price of £150, and it's a belter. I can't comment on the waterproof qualities, as I've yet to try it in the rain, but it is advertised as waterproof. It has everything that a jacket should have, warm, comfortable, easy to shoot in, pockets everywhere, magnetic fasteners on some pockets, like the phone one, and on the cartridge pockets to hold them open, are a great, if unusual, idea. tulkyuk
Dont buy either of those Teal - they are just cheap plastic jackets Buy either a Deer Hunter as Bob suggests or try and find a Whitewater one ( excellent bit of kit and i can validate that they are totally water prooof, even when its absolutly hissing down). Teal
Thanks for the replies. Glad I checked on here before purchasing! Will keep an eye out for deerhunter/whitewater on sale, and keep my fingers crossed.
Cosd
I agree with the replies you have already had on this. The other problem with these jackets is that the cheap plastic material sounds like a crisp packet when you move. The Deerhunter jackets recomended are an obvious good choice though a bit pricey. If you are on a budget as I was, then have a look at the Jack Pyke hunting jacket. It has all the features, warm and very quiete: English Oak Hunters Jacket NEW STEALTH MATERIAL breathable - waterproof - noiseless Outshell:100% Polyester brushed tricot with laminated membrane. Lining: 100% Polyester brushed mesh & taffeta. Full length double opening zip, concealed hood in pocket, 2 lower front bellows pockets with cartridge holders, 2 hand warmer pockets, 1 internal chest pocket, fold-down waterproof seat flap, elasticated weather shrouds on wrists Sizes:S, M, L, XL, XXL, XXXL http://jackpyke.co.uk/hunterjkteo.html I bought one of these and am very happy with it. It retails at around £60, but I managed to get mine for £50 at an army surplus store. The store I went into also had the Deerhunter clothing, so you can see the two to compare and decide yourself which to go for for the price. lurcherboy
Paul Hart has designed a realy nice one and its cheep get in contact with him about it, it realy is a nice coat I bought a SAS (not genuine) from a firm called SAS that advertised in the Countrymans Weekly 5 years ago. It was standard DPM and it stayed waterproof up until I ripped it on a nail in my garage. They also alter/adapt the pockets if you so wish and instaled two inside breast pockets that could take a brace of Salmon should I have been so lucky. Cost £115 at the time LB
MM
you dont want to go shooting with me then, as ill be the sweaty crisp packet in the long grass for what they are and the price, they are not too bad. they are warm, and have a good hood on them. the down sides have been mentioned already, the biggest for me being the press studs
staglioni
I've got a deer hunter 1 and the cartridge pockets are great in winter for keeping finger tips warm when wearing fingerless gloves. Totally water proof warm and silent well worth buying

scout
Hi I recently bought one of these from ebay at this shop http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TF-GEAR-CARP-REALTRE...oQQcmdZViewItem really , really pleased with it. Think when I bought it you had to bid for it and I paid about £35. Waterproof and wind proof. Allows the sweat to pass right through. It is almost silence material, very similar material to a gortex jacket. Couldn't believe what came through the post for the price I have been very impressed with it so far. cheers Scout
