Cranfield
Any of the Organisations that support shooting are worth joining and as many threads on this subject in the past have shown, people have their favourites. I would suggest you visit the websites of both Organisations, carefully read their spiel, especially any details regarding Insurance cover and make your choice. I am a member of both BASC and CA, which of course is another option you have.

webber
I'll leave Cranfield to answer that, however I doubt that there is little difference between the insurance cover offered by the two organisations. One thing for certain, is that BASC is far more focused on shooting, just look at the size of the firearms department for a start. My personal view is that the CA is a much broader church so to speak, and certainly not dedicated to shooting. You pays your money, and makes your choice, or as Cranfield has suggested join both if you'r feeling flush. webber
dazza
I have been waiting over a week for a reply from BASC regarding help with my FAC. At this rate it will be CA for me next year. Over here it seems CA get the business done.
Highlander
BASC if you value your shooting sport CA if you value the country way of life For most of us it should be both!
Cranfield
now a theoretical question here Cranfield, were you to have a requirement to claim, whose insurance would you claim on and how would you answer the question of do you hold any other cover that might cover the incident? I would chose one on the day and claim accordingly. Like most people with credit cards I have free travel insurance from a couple of sources. When I lost some glasses on a trip a few years ago, I claimed on one policy with no problems at all. If I was required to disclose any other cover held I would do so, but that is only to prevent you making multiple claims (which I would not do). Pinkfooty
now a theoretical question here Cranfield, were you to have a requirement to claim, whose insurance would you claim on and how would you answer the question of do you hold any other cover that might cover the incident? If I was required to disclose any other cover held I would do so, but that is only to prevent you making multiple claims . That's not quite true. Where the same risk is covered by two or more policies, then the insurers will share the liability. The good news is that, having given details of any other insurers on the claim form for the insurer you chose to submit it to, they will then contact the other insurers on your behalf and reclaim a proportion of the payout they make to to you. I had this situation a few years ago when I got a load of stuff, documents, credit cards and cash stolen in Teneriffe. What was stolen was covered, in different combinations by one, two, three or even four of the following - my household insurance, my travel insurance, my credit card protection insurance and my credit card's own insurance. As the greatest value seemed to be covered by my household insurance I claimed everything from them and they sorted it out with the others.
