red_stag88
Do you mean the Golf Course down the road from Bassets Pole?
ollie
What the f##k is bassets pole? yeh I'm thinking of working in the Hotel at the golf course for a year.
jonno 357
As the Belfry is a very expensive Golf complex, I would imagine there are quite alot of seriously rich upper class members. I would imagine the members will see you as a lower class grunt  Simple really! Jonno
red_stag88
What are you going to be doing there? (Get me in on the shooting, they've got to have rabbits )
ollie
I'm doing a Hospitality Management course so I'll probably be working at reception. Do you think if they have rabbits I'm gonna contact you red :yp: , only joking if I can't handle them all I will give you a shout. Jonno I can be upper class when I want to be. :yp:
red_stag88
Plenty of rich ******* go through there. At over £100 a round you'd have to be! :yp: If you ride a motorcycle, turn up to the Bassets Pole pub one either the first or last Tuesday or Thursday of the month - BIG gathering each time. The police have had the road narrowed to stop races :yp: If you like paint balling, the National Paintball Fields are round the corner. Many good fisheries about. If you are after a pike or a big perch - head to Chase water. A huge water that is largely un-fished - but certain places are brilliant for big perch. Clay shooting and you best shop of the area would be Garlands, near Tamworth.
ollie
Cheers for the advice red, I don't ride a motorcycle. I've always wanted to fish for pike but they don't have them around my area in Ireland.
red_stag88
I would kill to go to Ireland to catch pike :yp: What are you playing at :yp:
ollie
When I'm in Ireland (currently in Huddersfield at uni) the only fishing I do is for Trout and Salmon. there is nowhere near me to catch pike.
jonno 357
Ollie You don't have to be upper class to study in Huddersfield . I went to the polytech many years ago Are the female students still easy to **** on one night stands ? :yp: :yp: Whats that student pub called down by the back of the Kingsgate center where all the students hangout ? eugene molloy
The Belfy is quite isolated, there is no village life at all; the place stands on its own. The nearest area of civilisation is Tamworth (which scacely qualifies) or Sutton Coldfield which although once a pleasant enough place is now just a suburb of Brum. The hotel is a separate entity from the golf course. It's a biggish establishment, catering for the golfers stopping over (remarkably few) and the convention / seminar/ NEC visitor trade. In the gounds is a separate pub which has famous Grab a Granny nights, a serious picking up place. If you can't score there you probably play for the Villa. From a career development point of view, I'd say you have a great chance to see a high profile, large scale, commercially clued up place at work; but a year would be enough unless a good promotion was offered. Culturally, and from the shooting point of view it's a desert. Sutton Gun Club have a clay ground at Middleton just up the way, and Garlands is only a 25 minute or so drive. You might get a bit of beating or picking up on the Canwell Estate which is by the Bassets Pole (which is a pub.) The Sutton Gun Club Boyce Trophy was won by a certain E Molloy.....in 1964! eugene molloy
Vermin Dropper (or should I call you V.D. for short)? e m, whats wrong with it being a suburb of Brum then? If you need to ask this question, then you won't understand any possible answers. are you one of the Grannies who are often "grabbed" in there ? No but the present Mrs EM and I had our first date at the Belfry, long before golf was even considered there. The owner was Jimmy Burns, a James Robertson Justice look alike, complete pophead, and a most amusing man. He had a skeet layout in front of the hotel that was built the wrong way round; the high house was on the right! "Laugh, I nearly ****." So, on my first date with The Mem, I shot a round of skeet in reverse, took a very pretty girl to dinner, and scored on both layouts. you should get yourself up the Tower Ballroom over the weekend I was pulling crumpet at The GAY Tower Ballroom (for some extraordinary reason they changed the name) probably before you were born yoof. Memories!! Eug
