All good choices. I have a Lanber, and direct experience of the new Baikal OU, and both would be good starter guns. Be warned though that the Baikal, whilst very very solid, continues in the company tradition of agricultural machining. ZB
myzeneye
yeah zapp, i was told it would kick like a mule...
Zapp
The new ones dont kick too badly, but there were some lethally sharp edges on it, which I found with my fingers whilst cleaning the shipping grease off for my brother in law. These were inside the choke housing, and cut me pretty deeply. Aside from this and a comb which is too low for some, nice little gun. myzeneye
any comments on the miroku 3800 how does it compair to the lanber..... these are my top two choices...
Zapp
The Miroku will be the better gun IMHO, in terms of build quality etc. I have no hands on experience of them (Mirokus), but they have a pretty enviable reputation. I think Dunganick is a Miroku fan, it might be worth holding out for some input from him. ZB Edited July 2, 2008 by Zapp Brannigan

UnclePete
Miroku are always a sound bet, I've used the same one for 20 trouble-free years. I would strongly advise anyone getting a first shottie to go for a used Beretta/Browning/Miroku double gun or a Beretta/Remington for a semi. They all give pride of ownership and you should get back near what you paid at selling time.
myzeneye
too late..... i went to a localish gun shop today and after much deliberation, purchased a gun.... two guns caught my eye, one was over budget the other was under....a tough descision to pay more then i had intended and get a beauty or buy a gun and have change to buy allsorts of extras that i would need like a slip, snap caps, cleaning kit etc...... gun 1 was a bettinsoli super sport as new, cased with chokes... a beautiful gun... 40 quid over my total budget leaving me with nowt for the extras i needed.... gun 2 was the lanber 120 under budget, still perfectly decent gun, few dings, complete with chokes etc....and left cash for the other bits... i thought the lanber was better suited to sitting in a feild and was happy that i had cash left to buy the other bits and maybe a cheap realtree jkt.... now im ready to go !!! usually when i make descisions like this, i later regret it, but im happy with this descision, it feels right.... just need to sort some land out now...... wish me luck...
