I am (it's been widely reported) easy, as they say...

Agreed 101%

Scott Greenfield is running a shoot. One of those old fashioned turn up, pay your money and shoot jobbies.

Will see if I can dig out the flyer from the tip that is my car.

Details of Scotts Greenfiels shoot can be found below.....

I see the Greenfield's meet is a 40 Birder, is that the best we can do?

I got a phone call on my mobile late last night from a panicked chap talking about the Mays shoot and explaining that they had been having technical problems - technical problems that meant they didn't put a freekin phone number up? Anyways, I said other arrangements had been made in the meantime - they haven't really but I just hate being cocked about.

This is what royally hacks me off with clay shooting - unless you pay big bucks or go to a swanky club with a regular fixture it is always going to be a badly organised shambles.

Fair play to Olly who runs Copfurn and Three Acres because rain or shine it's always on, there's always a tea wagon present and everyone has his mobile number (which he actually answers). It really isn't that difficult is it? See how easy we are to please?

Let me have a quick look to see if there is anything else localish that could be shot on Monday. I can't understand why Scott G is laying on only a 40 bird shoot - that's a bit limp really.

Yours,

Hacked Off, Essex

The 40 bird thing is to get re entries, it is a money thing.

You will drive there shoot a round in 20 minutes and then think sod it I am here lets have a =nother round and a couple of goes on the pool shoot. Before you know it you have done £30 in entries.

If he lays on a 100 bird shoot that takes all day to get round and you lose the will to live queueing everywhere then you won't go back and you will get in your car and go home as soon as you are finished. No money spent on burgers or drinks.

I will agree with you over Copfurn,

I have only shot there once but it is well run and serviced. Perhaps a few more should take note.

Sensible comments by MC, indeed a rare occurence, hopefully the targets won't be over testing and that will encourage everybody to have another round.

I organised a 40 birder way back in 1990 to raise money for our local hospital's new cancer scanner, we had a massive total of 323 entries and donated £1000 to the appeal.

We were lucky, we had a dry day, (1st April), and we publicised it well in advance, even guys like Jed Welham came all the way from Suffolk to shoot it.

Cat.

I was there at the end of May and they had some decent targets on, it was just the weather that let them down that day. Blowing a gale. They had a few rangier targets which I liked, nothing that couldnt be broken with 1/4 and 1/2 but not all on the end of your barrells. :good:
