Finding farms?

I live on the southern edge of Edinburgh, there's a lot of agricultural/farming land

from here to the borders so I'm hoping there's some chance of getting some

shooting permission.

The only problem is identifying local farms/farmers.

Does anyone have any good pointers to finding where local farmers live and who

they are?

Is there a best time of day to knock doors to get them in a good mood?

Other advice is to join a club get mates with some one who s got too much. oh try door Knocking worse they can do is tell you where to get off also once you have get one look after it turn up now and then and more will follow.

Its been said at least 1000 times on PW, join a local club/go beating/picking up/buy a days shooting etc, get to know people and offer to help and the permissions will follow, it takes time and few if any are going to say tes to a complete stranger who turns up with a shottie,,,,,,

Would you say yes to a stranger shooting your patch :hmm: I thought not.......

It takes time and effort and then you have to look after it, took me years to get my own bit but the patch is getting bigger as word spreads if you do a good job and remain polite and turn out when farmer needs a hand from time to time :good:
