whats wrong with phoning them up? i chased my FAC up a week after I sent it, just to see how it was going. Also happened to mention that we where having a big pigeon problem on the farm (I had FAC shotty on there) is there anyway it could be pushed though. got a visit 2 days later and the FAC was in the post the day after that. There is no harm in at least asking!

good luck with the visit, if you havent already had it, although im sure you dont need it! Like henry said just be polite and be yourself, they are just about human as well u know and wont condemn you for being one either ie they dont mind if you have a few/many dinks down the pub as long as you come across as a sensible trusted person which im sure you are!

The first time I got a visit for my SGC I was covered in pig **** after mucking them out, completely forgot that she was coming and ended up having a chat outside because I stank too much, luckily it wasnt raining! Was not the best start, but she was fine with it, I think she also remembered who I was from then on! Which can have its advantages

What did he ask? I am awaiting for my visit and do not know what I should be aware of...

The FAO which visited me asked:

What i planned on doing with it.

Where i planned on using it.

Have i used one before.

How many people live in my house.

Where i planned on storing it.

Really felt like an informal chat.

Sorry for hijacking your thread Perfect.

I am quite lucky in that I allready have land permission, but I have been advised to say that the gun will be used for clays and not get bogged down with telling the police about the land (for the interview)!

What are other peoples thoughts?

Sounds like a good idea, but make sure you've done your homework and researched where your local clay shoots are.Im guessing that the Police would rather newly and (in a legal sense) inexperienced shooters go to organised places like clay shoots where safety is number one.

I told the FAO from the beginning that the shotgun would primarily be for clays and mentioned several sites which he obviously knew about, but i also mentioned membership prices etc.

Thats not a problem, because I started off on clays, and have used just about all the local clay ranges, but using freinds guns or the ranges. So in a way not realy a newbie or inxperinced, just new to shooting on land.

Now that I will be getting my own gun / SGC clays will be just for some practice / varriety.

Land will be main shoots given it is just over my back fence!

SO in away I am not telling lies!
