jonno
I've just bought a new 22LR and got the sound moderator at the same time. The mod isn't proof marked but should it be? Is this a legal requirement if it is used on a FAC rifle? Thanks, Jonno
radio1ham
well my parker and hale mod is proof marked so i would expect and thing with fac to be proofed are you sure he hasnt gave you an air rifle one by mistake maybe worth finding out as mistakes can happen

Dave-G
No - but it MAY be illegal to sell them with the rifle without proof markings. We are quite lucky in that we can acquire some of the more basic mods without faffing about with our certificates if we buy them for our air rifles
sniperdaz
the proof of rules state.....Barrel attachmet requiring proof means a device forming any part of barrel, removable or other wise, from or through which any part of the load would be discharged needs to be proofed. however this is only applicable for re-sale, since 2006.. if you have an un-proofed one before that date then it is on your head. does that answer your question? your local gunsmith. A Sick Old Man
Thats hit the nail on the head, I would always recommend getting something proofed. I think the London Proof house only chARGES £25 to proof something, this link is worth a look at, http://jacksonrifles.com/zz-silencers/proofcounsel.htm
Dave-G
There's not a lot of pressure behind a .22 rimfire. I use a soundbiter moderator on mine - and it's plastic. They can be proofed too if you specify it's for a .22lr and go through all the rigmarole of getting your ticket changed. roger
Bought a SAK for an HMR 6 weeks ago - no markings on it - sent details off same as I did with a Parker Hale 5 years ago - NVM (No visible markings) and that's what's on my certificate. - No problem - You cant put on what's not there.
