hi guys what are you using as your ratting set ups? i am seriously considering buying a 12 ft lbs air rifle to use for ratting.i ll probably opt for a pcp as i have already got the filling equipment. i always fancied having a go at the rats. is a logun lamp up to the job or is a dimmable one better?. night vision may be too much of an outlay as it would only be used the odd evening. i`d like to see your set ups. thanks

If you can find one , I use a BSA 635 Magnum in .25 for close range stuff around buildings ect, carbine barrel open sights, very quick to mount and fire, plus you have the stopping power of that .25 slug :good: although it drops faster than a tarts draws over 30yrds

Rats see mainly in the Blue and UV range of the spectrum as they don't have red rods in their eyes (or is it red cones, I can never remember which) so they are virtually blind to red light. but they can see brightness which is different to colour, so a really bright red lamp will spook em for a while. Think of a spotlight on an old black and white film. It's still bright but you cant see the colour. also worth remebering that the quality of their vision is very bad, similar to looking through a half fogged up pair of glasses.

They make up for all this by being very sensitive to visual movement and sound.

hope this helps

Logun lamps are fine for ratting. Unfortunately I found that the cable left a bit to be desired though. I've had two give up on me. I think the wire was breaking in the cables. They both started as 'loose' connections before giving up completely. A silenced, multishot is definately a good way to go. I've also used a Night sight on my s200 but its a nightmare to load due to the mounting setup and small pellet channel.
