the hitman
The old barbour wax jacket that has been worn on many a pheasant shoot has been put into retirement. So the hunt starts for a successor. The bugdet is £200 tops , but cheaper if poss. Any recommendations chaps?

Dave-G
Maybe the best of both worlds? Can't find a label on my cold weather jacket but it's drab green one side and realtree on the reverse side. loads of pockets either side. Nowhere to put a proper label of course 'cos it would show but it's got an Embroidered stag label sewn on one of the pocket flaps if that helps. It's warm as toast and I frequently have to undo it to let some heat out. Soft and silent too.
Cranfield
The hardest thing to find is a lightweight waterproof green shooting coat/jacket, that is not waxproofed, nor lined or foam filled. It also has to be made of breathable cloth, not that rubber/plastic stuff that has you sweating within 5 yards of walking.

Sounds like you're looking for Ventile, it was developed by the RAF for use in pilots immersion suits during the second world war. It's just very tightly woven cotten that expands when it's wet to make it water tight. The only downside is that it's not cheap.... http://www.pointerproducts.co.uk/beaver-ve...ket-p-1605.html Nial. Yup, I forgot to add the word "cheap". There is some interesting clothing in the Bush Wear catalogue that comes with the BASC magazine this month.
