tullyhubbert
http://tinyurl.com/4cvfu9 Anyone used these? I've looked at versions of shell wobblers in my local gun shop but at £15 for 10 I'm thinking they are a tad expensive. They are also made from untreated spring steel and I think they may glint. A different version with a spring in the middle of the stick at £9 for 10 are available from an online source ********.**.** which for some reason seems to be unmentionable on this forum (Anyone want to PM at tell me why this is the case?) However postage rates to NI are prohibitive. So back to the link, anyone used them, do they work, do the shells blow of them on a windy day, do they move too much - not enough? I use the shells pictured in the link. Opinions welcomed. John
dazza
I use these with my shells. They provide just enough movement. I've never had a problem blowing off on a windy day. Just ordered them on your recommendation, btw the magnet you recommended last year has been put to good use the last few weekends. At the same time I bought the magnet I bought a hide set from the same supplier, afaik you have the same hide, how do you attach the ghost netting to the poles? Its tricky as there are no holes to put any ties through Best solution I've come up with so far is velcro ties but they aren't ideal. p-a-s
i purchased some of these wobbler sticks off para1(a true gent) and i find them to be realy good and the decoys dont fall off mine, actually i sometimes have to prise the deecs off them.to fix my netting to the hide poles i use the small clamps from pound shops work a treat and cheap enough to replace if you lose any with them being 6 for a £1 hth paul
nagantino
I've used them and find them to be effective. They are dear though and have a few drawbacks. Firstly they can be bent as you try to push them into the ground, second if you push them into stubble at a realistic height off the ground, the stubble prevents them from wobbling. Small criticisms I know. I reinforced the part that goes into the ground to give more strenght with aluminium strips. I will try to post a pic of them tomorrow. When they are working they look very convincing. The pigeon decoys especially seem to wobble like a walking bird and as dazza says they move just enough. I like them and they drew birds in last Friday evening even when I was trying to tidy the decoy pattern.

tullyhubbert
Thanks nagantino, I get the idea now. Are those the exact same wobblers as in my ebay link? They look more like the ones in my local gun shop. -- Tullyhubbert
nagantino
They do seem to be a little different at the top but the spring steel strip is the same. That part is insertted into the decoy body. You might need a dremel tool or similar, to cut a neat slit in the plastic of the decoy body. try cutting one and satisfy yourself that it is sitting as you want it ....then cut the rest. I should have included a pic of a wobbler with a dec attached.
seisobs
I have 20 of these wobblers on my full body decoy's, I find it a real pain to remove them when packing up for the day so I tend to leave them on, doing this takes up a lot of space in my decoy bag. Anyone have any suggestions how I can get around this space issue? Thanks Jake
nagantino
Thats one of the drawbacks I forgot to mention. I take them off but it still leaves you trying to find a place to store/carry them.
Cranfield
I have a variety of decoy "sticks", some made of flat spring steel, others are wooden with spring fittings on top and I have some rigid plastic ones (the shells still rock in the breeze), but one thing they all have in common is that they are straight, without any bends in them. I really don't understand why the bend is necessary, but each to their own. The straight ones are easy to take out of the decoys and put in a drawstring bag with the decoys. tullyhubbert
These arrived today http://tinyurl.com/3lbez2 They are excellent for attaching ghost netting to poles, just the right size and a strong spring to grip The wobblers also arrived, too late to go shooting with but the deeks have been wobbling in the garden all afternoon. Perhaps a little flimsy but the movement was good in a moderate wing. -- Tullyhubbert
seisobs
I use the plastic grips on my hide all the time, sometimes!
