TheDodge
I'm afraid you'll have to think a little longer. However, if you're keen on getting into shooting there's other aspects you can get into while you wait to get older. On the way you'll learn gun etiquette and safety. You'll have fun too. dustyfox
Yes you can have your own SGC http://www.cleveland.police.uk/crime_preve...ung_persons.htm You have to be given a shotgun, you cant buy one
sbald
You can have a shotgun certificate at 15, but are unable to buy a gun although you can be given a gun.

Trussman
As long as it's a gift I don't see why not, but it would be a good idea to contact one of the big sporting organisations to be sure.

Cushat
No lower age limit for SGC - the FEO will be more interested in safety, storage, experience etc. I got mine at 15 I think, but my dad had his for years before and there was plenty of evidence that I'd be supervised and responsible etc Not sure on cartridges - something in the back of my mind says you need to be 17 to buy carts? As long as you have a parent/older mate who can buy them for you then no probs. EDIT - See page 31 in this document - gives you the full details: http://www.basc.org.uk/media/ho_guidance.pdf Edited October 31, 2008 by Cushat
Saltashshooter
yeah you have to be 17 to buy carts a mate of mine went to the gun shop to buy carts and got them then he went too get some airgun pellets but was not allowed as he is only 17 - the age limit on airgun pellets is 18 starnge laws arnt they
tbeagley
At 15 my son got his certificate. As soon as it came through we went shopping for a gun which i bought in my name (on the receipt) but had it put onto his certificate in the shop. Devon & Cornwall where fine with this as i had bought it for him as a gift. Good luck! Terry.
