Lloyd90
Hey guys seen a bloke down by me on one of the local markets selling the Jack Pyke Of England camo gear, looks quite good, all brand new and real, not fakes. was just hoping to get some general prices and see if its a good deal The English Oak design I believe it is. How much would the Jacket be ? I think its up around £50 Then he has the fleece/jacket version - This one is up for £40 Then I THINK that I remember the trousers were £30 ? Plus because my dad runs a rug stall he will do a traders price, so I expect to know off a few quid n prob get a hat n camo net chucked in Just wondering if you think its a good deal ? I have seen some of that gear for around £65 for the Jackets and stuff but dont know if its the exact gear Any tips ? Cheers for advice
Imperfection
I bought the camo Hunters jacket yesterday for £60 so if its genuine-go for it! Do check the quality though because as you will probably know-some market traders deal in shop/catalogue returns so look it over incase its got any damage or signs of wear. If you're not sure if its genuine-look at the button poppers as its stamped with 'Jack Pyke' on them.
Lloyd90
Cheers mate. The bloke is there every week so any trouble will be seeing him. It all looks top notch, its not like he has just 1 jacket, hes got loads in all sizes so its looking like a good grab The Jacket has all the Jack Pyke labbels and such, will check the buttons when I next go up thanks for that tip Should be kitted out if its all good. Willpost a pic lol
Paladin
I also looked at a Jack Pyke Hunter jacket the other week on a market stall and the trader wanted £40. I did'nt buy because the hand warmer pockets are cut the wrong way? I have a jacket with pockets cut like that and when it rains your pockets fill with water! Pain if you've got your car remote or mobile phone submerged! Anyone from Jack Pyke care to comment? is it an accidental design flaw? Lloyd90
The one I saw the £40 had a fleece type inside. Looked good Any tips whether the fleece or the jacket would be better ? It does seem the real deal and a good deal for me aswell. Thinks I will snap it up lol
PUSC
got the fleece type jacket and yes they are cut the wrong way lol but i got short arms so they still fit just about lol. good size pockets for shells, deacs etc and bloody warm, only thing is tho that the collar is bloody big and makes getting your head on the gun a bit of a pain some times. Imperfection
The one I saw the £40 had a fleece type inside. Looked good Any tips whether the fleece or the jacket would be better ? It does seem the real deal and a good deal for me aswell. Thinks I will snap it up lol I looked at both and opted for the hunters jacket.I liked the large pockets which are perfect for popping a box of cartridges into plus they do also have two small elastic flappy thingies which you pop 5 more cartridges into each-just dont fall into a river or you'll sink with that much lead on ya! The material dont feel very thick, but it is very warm and also wind/waterproof.It also has a foldaway hood in the collar which is a good idea. The fleece jacket just wasnt practical for me although it did feel plenty warm enough. Lloyd90
I was also thinking the hunters jacket would be best, if its cold out you can just put a Fleece on under it, when its hot you cant stop the fleece being in the fleece jacket lol. I trust the problem with the fleece jacket isnt there on the Hunters ? Still looks like a pretty good bargain, cheers guys
Imperfection
The hunters jacket has two handwarmer pockets further up which are closed by velco the moment you take them out so in theory-they shouldnt fill up with water.I wore it this morning while walking the dogs in rain and they remained dry.Unless the velcro has been removed-i cant understand how rainwater would get in? Fantastic value, no complaints and I bet I'll get sone use out of the drop seat flap sitting on damp banks waiting for the bunnies to show. gavgriff
hi paladin gavin here from jack pyke (thatchreed ltd) interesting to read your comments on our hunter jacket. so much so made me sign up. ref the hand warmer pockets. the angle on these has been taken from what i would call standard shooting jacket design. this includes the barbours and musto's of the world. we are a family business here and we all use our products.we have had a discussion around the office and all come to the agreement here they seem fine, and none of us has any water getting in anywhere. just for your info, i have since changed the velcro on these pockets to press stud. (apparently too noisy) and velcro around the sleeve so it can be tightened up. this was all adjusted after feedback from customers. we do pride ourselves in listening and hopefully getting you guys ( and girls) good products at a price thats sensible. by the way paladin there is a concealed zip pocket half way up the front zipper for valuables/phones etc. best regards gavin
anser2
I have some Jack Pike camo gear and its well made stuff but .................. Compared to realtree \ Advantage I feel the camo does not work anywhere as well. The English oak camo looks great up close , but look at it 40 yards away against a hedge and its just a good dull jacket but , the break up patten does not seem to work. Look at a Realtree hardwood Woodlands or Advantage wetlands ( on stubble ) at the same range and the camo is bril . The jacket just merges into the background. Howie54
Anyone looking at the Hunter jacket should also look at the Field Smock as it looks pretty good too
poorpeet
I've had mine a year and it'd been great. I hadn't realised there was a concealed pocket! Just had a look and there it was! One thing though, if they are interested in feed back, I've run a lace into the bottom hem so that I can tighen it up a bit. I find that this makes the jacket much warmer.
