MAJ
Just been dragged round my local "Homebase" by Mrs MAJ, and there among the pansies in the garden section were some interesting looking sticks. They're called Growsticks (product code number 4906648002412). They are made of light weight steel tube, pointed at one end, and coated with a matt green plastic. Along their length they have plastic bobbles, ideal for tying the net to. They come in a variety of sizes and lengths. I've bought four, 16mm thick x 1.8 metres long, and between them they weigh less than a pound. The one drawback may be their length, but as I drive a van I shouldn't have a problem transporting them. I've just pushed one into my lawn, which is still like iron, and it went in with no problem. I reckon at £1-39 each you can't go wrong. I'll try them out this weekend, and if they work I'll get some more and leave a set on each field I shoot. One less thing to carry, and not a lot to lose if some 'erbert swipes 'em. Pigeon Pieman
Don't tell Cranfield! You've got something for growing plants up that might make good poles - he's got poles that aren't worth growing plants up!! Ah, the irony of sport!!
