Cranfield
Its probably the light on the photograph, but that looks like a push rod between the barrels. Whats the specification ? It probably needs a tripod to sight it, or a punt.
dunganick
How'd you that in a gun slip, or a car for that matter! probably not a very quick swinger then
Guest Patsmash
is it telescopic ?
Snotty
Whats the specification ? It's a single barrel, 16 gauge, made around 1800 so it predates chokes. Originally a flintlock it has been converted to percussion cap, the barrel is 6 feet long making the gun 88 1/4" overall. The bore looks okay so this is a shooter, it may look cumbersome but it balances half way between the barrel wedges so it's just as nature intended
ProteuS
one question springs to mind, how does one get a gun cabinet to fit that? unless of course you have a gun room.. the gun somewhat reminds me of the american attempts at "silenced" shotguns, with the 7+ feet barrels enjoy shooting it
MARK 1
makes my 10 bore look like a cap gun

the last engineer
Why do you think its a goose gun ? I'd like to know that too ,if back then (mma) would the powders and loads in a 16 gauge be capable of goose shooting ?? curious Where in the world did you get that thing anyway ? hope your mode of transport acomodates packing the howitzer ,you may need a trailer . Snotty
It's pre-1939 and doesn't chamber a commercially available cartrige so the law as we know it does not necessarily apply It came in two plastic bin liners with bubble wrap from Michael D Long in Nottingham http://www.michaeldlong.net/ and fits up the middle of a Mundane-o estate without blocking the gear lever. Goose gun is what the Americans call any ridiculously long barrelled shotgun, it's as good a name as any other. Wonder if it shoots like a tight choke, I think that's the idea

Snotty
I'm wondering about converting the Mundane-o to flint, or I could revert the goose gun instead. That cock looks somehow out of place and in bad taste, kinda like a toddler with piercings
