Hey Guy's. I'm new here  Hello to you all > > >

Got a burning question I need to sort..

One of my rifles is a Savage Arms 93R Series .17HMR, I got it thread'd for a silencer a while back now but with the length of the barrel and then the silencer, its stupidly long. How short would I be able to get it cut down again, How low can you go without effecting the overall accuracy! Any ideas guys...

Cheers

Rich :P

It'll cost you a bit to get it cut and re-proofed (unless you don't get it proofed and just do that when you come to sell it)

My CZ is about 16 inches long. It's perfectly accurate, but I don't know what the difference would make on a longer barrel. (from what I've heard it's nothing to worry over)

Why not look at putting a carbon fibre sound mod on the end, as this will seriously decrease the weight. Oh and a bipod might help!

The barrel is a tad under 20" long at present, than there's the ASE UTRA on the end.

Would'nt mind taking 6" of it, even if it looses 50fps for every inch, 300fps, I rarely shoot over 200yrd's with it...

Think that'd be alright, cheers for the advice guys... Its much welcome

Here's some pics of it at present...

Here is the data from the Bullberry test. Long story short, they chopped a barrel from 22" down to 11". The average velocity loss was 132 fps over the 11". At 11" they still averaged well over 2300 fps. For a moderate or large case centerfire you'll loose 40+ fps per inch, but not with a rimfire.

Thanks,
