auto culto
i use a straight 25grains but mines 1-12 so i would imagine you will need less powder
Rem223
My Sako (1 in 8") worked best with 26gr using 40gr Vmax with N133. With a heavier bullet you would want to scale that back though. 24gr would be a sensible starting load with a 50gr. Nosler quote 25gr of N133 as a max load in their 5th edition manual. chrisv
I was starting to get slight pressure signs at 25.0gr 133 with 50gr Vmax in my Howa 223. I think the best load for it was around 24.5 grains
Rem223
Bear in mind that the Nosler load is for Nosler bullets and the ogive is different with these compared to Vmax. Nosler state 23gr of N133 as a starting load with the 50gr bullet which coincidentally was the most accurate at 3190fps. The max load is 25gr for 3412fps. I found that the N133 didn't fill the case as much as say Benchmark, but I got very good accuracy with this powder. If it were me I would load up some starting loads at 23gr and see how well it works. I think when Vihtavuori say lower loads are inadvisable they are talking about really low loads which can be dangerous. Play it safe with a 23gr load and if you don't have any pressure problems (sticky bolts, primers cratered etc.) then work it up slowly. Dead-Eyed Duck
I use 24.5g Vit 133 with 50g V Max and accuracy is very good. Rifle is a Sako 75 Don
markbivvy
in the complete reloading manual for the 223 remington it gives23.7 grains as a max load 23 grain of vitt 133 puts a 50 grn bullet into the same 1 inch gircle as 24.5 grains of vitt 133 for me. the 24.5 just gets it there quicker. deadeye ive
Load....... lapua match brass CCI benchrest primer 50grn hornady V-max N133 propellant 24.5 grn = 3345 FPS 25 grn = 3430 FPS 25.5 grn = 3470 FPS 26 grn = 3520 FPS Even at 26 grns the only sign of pressure was a flattened primer and using a powder trickler i could have got more in the case but decided i was about to enter compressed load territory and left it at that .However if i was using Federal brass then the max load was 24.2 grn but i never chrono'd that one . ALWAYS START LOW AND WORK UP YOUR HOMELOADS
