vmobiler1
Hi I`m looking to get a .22 rimfire I have been looking at the Anschutz 1417 and the Sako Quad, I was just wondering if anyone has either rifle if so what is your opinion on it good or bad. Spoke to someone with a 1417 and the bolt moves slightly making the weapon misfire, has this happened to you? Axe
The Annie is a lovely rifle and shoots very well indeed. The thumbhole just makes a good gun even better. For me at least, the bolt is the only downside, but you do get used to checking it before your shot, after a while. Seriously though it isa very good gun indeed. The Sako Quad, equally is a good rifle for different reasons. I would say its not as pinpoint accurate as the Annie but it is built with precision and the bolt is far better than the Annie. Both are very good rifles and do deliver on their price. Its basically down to which one you feel better with.
TheHunter
I originally got the quad with a 22lr and a 17HMR barrel but got so hacked off switching between the two, I put in for a separate 22 on my FAC and got the Anschutz 1417 carbine. What a rifle, almost from the box it is bullet on bullet acurate, light, solid and the carbine is so easy to use from the front of a vehicle. I don't know what experience your friend had with his but mine has been 100% perfect in every way. For people who have never fired an Anschutz you are really missing out on a world class action, bolt and trigger assembly. You will not be disapointed with an Anschutz. al4x
both have their plus points but I'd only get the quad if you are interested in changing barrels, If not sako do make a finfire.

Baldrick
Anschutz every time. Match-grade barrels, outstanding trigger, many decades of provenance. I'm all for switch-barrel rifles, but re the Quad, I have heard too many first-hand stories of wandering zero and rifles that don't shoot consistently in conditions that an Anschutz shrugs off. Sako did make a Finnfire, but they don't come up for sale with great regularity. Edited November 27, 2008 by Baldrick
Newsportshooter
Both equally excellent rifles - Anschutz has the pedigree but as you suggest has it's own issues - to be honest it really boils down to what you want. If you want a bang on rifle (with a possibly wobbly bolt) go for the Anschutz - If you want a multi barrel rifle go for the Quad. You can see which I went for and I was offered an anschutz before I made the choice. If you go for the quad make sure you get your scope mounted in removable mounts, and a BDC turret, as it makes changing the barrels much easier. As for wandering Zero's I've never had any issues with my Quad even when changing between barrels. Its your choice matey
