Martin, I think David was suggesting that the cries that BASC are being mean to SACS is a distraction from the original question about what is exactly going on in SACS.

I can remember the eary BASC bashing and it was unpleasant. As for being mean, well it may well be that the boot is on the other foot and "they don't like it up 'em".

Sowing and reaping.

I remember that too, and it was pretty ugly and thoroughly hubristic. I dont agree with 100% of what David BASC says 100% of the time, but IMHO he has been a proper professional throughout this. Well done :( (and before anyone says, no, I'm not BASC)

Anyway...

if it looks like a fish, and swims like a fish, it aint a frog. They a company. The main aim of all these organisations, associations, ect..ect.. is to sell membership.

How many times does it need to be repeated. Nobody, as an individual or combined into an association, can promote and lobby to keep the sport, way of life whatever you want to call it, that everyone on this forum loves, follows, enjoys ect, without MONEY.

There are a few ways of raising the MONEY required to do this, wait around for a mega rich philanthropist, rob banks, bet on the horses or the lottery but the usual, and some might say the sensible way, is by subscription from the people who want to keep the way of life described above. These people, called members, are in fact subsidizing the people who want to go on enjoying their sport but don't pay into the "fighting fund". So, are we agreed, selling memberships raises the MONEY required to defend the said members sport.

Again repeating what has been done to death already, BASC is a non profit making organization. That doesn't mean to say the annual balance sheet (available to anybody) doesn't show a surplus at the end of the year but that's money available to fight the good fight in the future.

Finally, where is all this money that BASC are supposed to be making, where are the Bentleys, the Lear Jets, the Yachts etc. They don't bloody exist, the assets needed to fight for our cause are people skillful, expensive (you don't get a Purdey for Baikel money!) people and the infrastructure (buildings, computers, cars, phones, etc, etc) to support them. Funny things people, they won't work for nothing or of the ones that do the majority are rubbish.

Rant over, I should feel better now or I will after a lie down.

It would seem that Ian had replied to at least one of his members. Sirusman, but this is confidential - OK that is fair enough. But there are several SACS members on the forum, has Ian written or e-mailed them to calm things down? If that is so, then fine, but looking at the old SACS forum there were many members who were unhappy.

As I have said before, I know from bitter experience how a lack of communication can cause big problems, as it did with BASC 7ish years ago. In the case of BASC we admitted things went wrong, came up with a solution, implemented it, made these implementations clear at AGM and since then to be honest we have been a stronger, leaner and more effective organisation. As a friend of mine said to me today – ‘if it harms us but does not kill us, we tend to be stronger for it’

Come on people how retarded is this. When the thread against BASC was up, Pro BASC people were saying that non Members cannot have a say???

Well vice versa your not a member of SACS so why comment on SACS issues if thats the way you want it!!

I just hate **** stirrers.

If its between Ian and Foxgun tom let them fight it out themselves. You only heard one side of the story coming from Foxgun Tom, there could be alot more to it and Ian does not have to say his side of the story.

To me Foxgun Tom has done wrong by making this thing public, why didnt he go through the proper way? Afterall he said he was a volunteer, he could of just dropped his stuff and go, but no he didnt, he has made things tits-up and dug a whole for himself which he cant get out of.

Im sorry but im wound up why is BASC members commenting on an issues between Ian Clarke and Foxgun Tom I have no idea why you's are. Like BASC has never had disputes like this, you just never here about them because you dont get idiots posting them up on public forums yet.
